Our AI Policy
Chronicle Builder is a worldbuilding and writing workspace first. AI features exist to assist writers who want them — and to stay completely out of the way of writers who don't.
Your work is never used to train AI.
Nothing you write in Chronicle Builder — manuscripts, worldbuilding entries, notes — is ever used to train AI models, by us or by anyone else. AI requests are processed through paid API access where inputs and outputs are not used for model training.
AI is opt-in, always.
When you create your account, you choose whether AI features are enabled. Say no, and Chronicle Builder is a complete, fully-featured worldbuilding and manuscript workspace with no AI anywhere in your interface — no buttons, no nudges, no upsells. You can change your choice anytime in Settings → AI Features.
AI never writes without being asked.
No AI runs in the background on your manuscript without your action. Assistance happens only when you explicitly invoke it.
You stay in control of disclosure.
If you use AI assistance, Chronicle Builder helps you keep track of where, so you can disclose accurately to publishers and platforms that require it (such as Amazon KDP). The per-project AI Disclosure report shows exactly which chapters or entries recorded any AI assistance, grouped by category.
Your data is yours.
Your writing is private to your account, and you can export your work at any time.
We built Chronicle Builder for novelists across the whole spectrum — from writers who want zero AI near their manuscript to writers who use it daily. Both are first-class citizens here.
